About Us

Please help support this worthy project to honor the men and women from Walla Walla County who served our country and gave their lives during World War II.

This project is being undertaken by a citizens group called the “Walla Walla Area WWII Memorial Committee” with support from the City of Walla Walla and Fort Walla Walla Museum. The City of Walla Walla will provide a site and ongoing utilities for the monument proposed to be placed in Fort Walla Walla Park. The Fort Walla Walla Museum has graciously agreed to act as the fiscal agent for this significant project.  The committee’s goal is to raise funds to build a memorial to honor all those from Walla Walla County who served in WWII.

Committee Members include:
  • Douglas Saturno, Chair
  • Lt. Col. Larry Adams, US Marine Corps, pilot for Marine One (retired)
  • Lt. Col. Allen Aplass, USAR (retired)
  • Larry Cunnington, US Navy (retired)
  • Jerry Davis, US  Army (retired)
  • Jonathan Follet, Project Manager, Walla Walla Foundry
  • SGT Neil Jacobson, former US Marine Corps
  • SSG Sherilyn Jacobson, US Army Reserves (retired)
  • Bill Lake, USN (retired), WWII Vet
  • James Payne, Executive Director, Fort Walla Walla Museum
  • Don Schack, USAF (retired), Governor's Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee

The memorial will honor the more than 3800 men and women who answered our Nation’s call, 93 of which paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our country.  These numbers continue to grow as more research is done.
