The unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor led President Franklin Roosevelt to call December 7, 1941 “a date that will live in infamy.”  Over 3,800 citizens from Walla Walla County served in World War II, of which 93 gave the ultimate sacrifice defending our country.  The Walla Walla Area WWII Memorial Committee plans to honor all those local men and women who served and list the names of the fallen on a monument at Fort Walla Walla Park, near the corner of Dalles Military Road and Myra Road.
